According to the daffodils on the south facing homes in my neighborhood it's spring! They are in full bloom.

I'm grateful for the mild weather. It's the first time I've had bluebirds for multiple visits. My daffodils are getting there, but they tend to stall anyway! I'm going to start seeds indoor, hopefully it will be a great season.

In a report from Fairfax County Park Authority: "Twenty-four wood frogs are calling in the backyard habitat pond at Hidden Oaks Nature Center. And at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park the naturalist can’t remember wood frogs breeding in the vernal ponds this early."

So.... what do you guys think? If the frogs are breeding, is it time for spring seeding?

Y'all should come a couple of hours south. I have hundreds of birds in my front property already chirping away every morning. I've already had to remove a nest from one of my gutters and had to re-connect the hose to clean off the gifts they've been dropping. I really don't want to set up the feeders yet (as my neighbor has already done). So I already have the birds in the morning, then I have the frogs in the afternoons. All I need now is the crickets at night, then I'll really know winter is over.

So Neil, was the snow a real pain down there? Or did it melt off by the middle of the day? At least it hit on the day before President's Day, so the traffic was a little bit lighter.

It may have hit early Sunday morning, but it didn't start sticking to the roads until after 6p. By the time, around 7p, I was within 5 miles of my home it was white out conditions. Strange I didn't see any VDOT trucks at any time on Sunday pre-treating the roads. By my ruler it was over 4" on the ground Monday morning, but by 11ish the roads were clear and by 2ish my driveway had melted off. My backyard is still all white. I telecommute so I can't say what rush hour looked like. According to my friends I95 was a nightmare. From what one of them noticed, it wasn't the conditions but more the drivers causing most of the problems.

I've already started cleaning up the lawn and thinking about the backyard projects. Although I have a front porch restoration project that's first on the list.

Working on my spring wardrobe too now but not putting away the sweaters and boots yet!

The garden center at WalMart is full of people buying daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips. I think Lowes has them too. The ten day forecast is now stretching into March and has no snow.

I do believe spring has sprung.

Daffodils are blooming along GW Parkway. I will kind of miss the contrasts between seasons. This year, spring will be less appreciated for me because winter wasn't that bad. It's always nice those first few warm days of spring where the flowers are blooming, trees are budding, grass is greening, the sun is out, birds are chirping, and everything is straight out of a Disney cartoon. Finally payoff for enduring the cold, dreary winter.
