My job in Roanoke was just relocated to Springfield, so next month I'm moving to the Northern VA. I've heard that Northern Virginia has become more liberal-minded in recent years (the state went blue in the 2008 elections), so I'd like to find a place that's more in line with my political views. Virginia used to be reliably Republican, but I guess those days are no more with all the transplants.

The place I'm looking for doesn't have to be completely free of democrats, just an enclave that has American values and won't freak out if I say something critical about our current president. I heard Woodbridge might be a place I'd like.

Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Man, there is no way to answer this question, other than to suggest Texas, and this is coming from a Republican.

I will say though, up here, political chatter is best kept between your own ears.
Life is too short to haggle openly about politics in DC and surrounding areas. And this is also coming from a republican "transplant" from ChiTcago "that's not a typo either".

Wow, so Democrats don't have American values? Thanks for enlightening us.

Don't ever tell that to anyone in the Peoples Republic of Falls Church City. And why should he keep his views to himself?

Prince William swings back and forth, like Loudoun, but definitely has more republicans than Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria.

Years ago I knew a family who was moving from CA and they wanted the most republican neighborhood they could find in Fairfax. They went to the Virginia election results for the last election and found the precincts that were the strongest for republicans. They only looked for homes in those precincts.

You can find Republicans anywhere in NoVa. Just by voting rolls though, the further you are from the beltway the redder you get.

Although frankly, unless you live in small town Fredricksburg or something, the entire vibe is just not going to be the same, so frankly this should not really be too big a thing to worry about when moving. With the internet and meetups you can find Republican enclaves anywhere especially NOVA.

The problem in Nova is there are so many liberal implants, voting like they're in NY or CA, trying to mess up Virginia with more taxes and liberalism. Now look at them states, they're Broke! Thank you for not voting for Democrats.
