Why, is there a problem with that? The process looks pretty simple as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

Why? If you do it on-line they'll mail it to you in about 5 days and you can print out a temporary if you're not going to get it by the time the old one expires. Seems to work about the same as a registration renewal except you can only do it every other renewal, presumably because the picture gets way out of date.

New DL ID rules. Old pics are being phased out. The old system wasn't deemed secure enough, but hey, let's make voting less secure...

I personally don't like the idea of internet voting for a presidential election, but no need for people to get snarky about it. Seems like it would be too easy for voter fraud or just technical glitches. People cite the DMV's method of a person getting a unique pin number to handle their online business as a way it would work, but there doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to try to exploit that. If there was I'm sure people could and would.

This sounds like something people must have said before they introduced on-line banking. "Why would anyone want or trust that?"

Online banking isn't completely secure, people who use it realize that. But if it gets screwed up it's not that difficult to fix. Not sure that would be the case if a presidential election got screwed up

The economy processes billions of dollars in transactions a day across the internet and much of our country's security runs over it. I'm sure they can figure out a way to accurately and securely record a couple hundred million votes. Seems as if the only barriers to it are:

1. Political actors who don't want to make it any easier to vote.
2. Voting machine companies.
3. Techno-phobes.
