FWIW, anyone who can vote on the appointed day should do so then - not before.
With absentee voting you have to give a reason. Early voting is like no-fault divorce; no reasons needed. It's the better way to go, IMO.

I guess we all have different opinions on whether it's better to vote early or on the final day for voting. I think it's better that people vote early as long as they have had time to weigh the candidate's positions and make an intelligent decision. This system of everyone in an entire country voting on one day is tempting fate, since a bad storm or other disaster could prevent a large number of people from voting. (As we are now seeing with NY and NJ.) When you encourage early voting, more people tend to vote and the lines are shorter for everyone.

This isn't early voting. It's for people who can't vote on election day because of a specific reason. Of course anyone can lie and say they have to work late or something and will be out of the house for 11 hours between 6am-7pm(one of the reasons), but it's technically voter fraud to do that if it's not really true. Personally I'd rather just suck it up and wait in line but to each their own. I really hope VA does adopt early voting eventually though.

PS: anyone doing it from a non-religious group would also be illegal as was seen in many bars in DC. However Bars dont have the multi-hundred person legal teams that Chick Fil A does, leading me to believe if they are doing that they know full and well they are committing a federal crime and will play the "oops I didnt know" card.

Chick Fil A, a class act company
Man, I don't support Chick Fil A's social views either, but you're hurting your credibility with some of your comments. One, it's a fast food restaurant - not a religious group. Two, it doesn't have multi-hundred person legal teams. Three, they would never claim "oops I didn't know" because anyone with a bit of legal knowledge knows that ignorance of the law is not an affirmative defense (this also goes against your huge legal team argument). Four, why did you single out Chick Fil A and not Starbucks?

I actually agree with many of your political views, but your race-baiting and unsubstantiated comments reflect poorly on those who share your views.

Correction:

Found the real deal, they are skirting the issue with "Chick-fil-A is celebrating what they’re calling “Cow Appreciation Day” today. While it’s not a national holiday and we don’t get off from work, to celebrate the “event” Chick-Fil-A is awarding free meals (lunch or dinner) to customers who come into one of Chick-fil-A’s participating restaurants dressed like a cow. If you wear a partial costume, they’ll give you a free entree."

Thats fine if they are doing that.
No it's not illegal. As long as the free sandwich isn't predicated on voting for a particular candidate or a certain way on an issue.

Both the Democrats and Republicans had coffee and doughnuts available at my polling place.

Well, I just got a free lemonade from Rockland's for showing my I voted sticker. I will not drop dime on them (I already dropped enough cash for lunch there. )

There were only three electronic voting stations at my polling place so it took about 45 minutes (starting at 11:00am). They were encouraging people to use paper ballots as an alternative (which they said would be tabulated right away).

Would be nice if Virginia had early voting.

I used a paper ballot myself because people were taking forever in the electronic voting. Once I got the actual ballot filling it out took less than two minutes with an additional limit for the line.

I hope the police are at the polling stations as I fully expect all kinds of Repub voter suppression shenanigans.
Yeah right intimidation was not from anyone but all the black folks working at the voting places watching every thing you do standing behind you when your voting ! Talk about shenanigans what was that about???? Maybe you should send your president a email asking what's up with that! What did obama do away with the curtains?

I was asked "paper or electronic"? I responded, "What's faster?" She handed me a paper ballot.....30 seconds later, and seven oval circles filled in and I was done.

How many other people PROUDLY wear their sticker? I don't see many people with it on.......

Lots of people in my office wearing their stickers. I'm not going until this afternoon, though, so I don't have one yet.
