I don't recommend taking metro for this. You will need to park at Springfield metro which may be quite crowded, get tickets, and then take a 3 year old on a crowded train. The plus is it is the first stop so you would have a seat. But then as others mentioned it is quite a walk to the cemetary. There would be no time savings at all.

That said, after you tackle our traffic, keep in mind that once you get on the road to the cemetary, (after the round -about) you will not need to park in the regular parking lot, you may go forward - there will be guards, you will be asked for the name of the deceased, and you will be directed into the cemetary, (left turn) there is parking on your left. In most cases, you will go into the building there, and all will gather. Then depending on the location of the gravesite, you will go back to your cars, gather behind the hearse and proceed to the gravesite, or walk.

My condolances as well, and may you have some comfort that their final resting place is one of our nation's biggest treasures.
