Most of the schools in ashburn area are rated 7 or more but Steuart W. Weller Elementary School is rated as 5 out of 10 by great shool website. Why is that?

Weller has different demographics than the other Ashburn schools. The higher percentages of English language learners and economically disadvantaged students likely affect test scores (which is what GreatSchools uses to develop its scoring).

Steuart W. Weller:
36% White, 29% Asian, 19% Hispanic, 12% Black
16% English language learners
21% economically disadvantaged

Newton-Lee:
58% White, 27% Asian, 5% Hispanic, 4% Black
3% English language learners
3% economically disadvantaged

Belmont Station:
62% White, 15% Asian, 11% Hispanic, 7% Black
4% English language learners
9% economically disadvantaged

I was surprised to see that may English language learners in Ashburn. I guess they are from the some of the older neighborhood. All the kids moving into Stone gate and One Loudoun will attend this school. May be that will change the demographics of the school.

Yeah, I tried to look at the current boundary map to see who goes there now, but they've already replaced it with the 2013-2014 map.

Parts of Lansdowne has also been redistricted into this elementary school starting in Fall 2013. I expect the demographics will quickly change between that and One Loudoun.

I agree with the other folks here - One Loudoun will greatly change this school's performance and demographics.

I heard that new elementary school "Discovery" is opening this fall and the new stone gate community will be in its jurisdiction. Id this correct or the builder making it up to sell more homes?

Here is the boundary map: Ashburn / Dulles North Elementary Attendance Zones effective Fall 2013

It looks like Stonegate is in planning zone DN20.1, which will attend Discovery ES.
