That's the one. Brood II affects parts of Nova, and is the brood popping up the year. Brood X affects other parts of Nova and was the brood that was here in 2004.

I have now, over the past two days, heard of two families in my immediate neighborhood collecting cicadas to eat.

No Cicadas here in Merrifild or Annandale (outside 495) No sights or sounds of cicadas so per this WaPo article, I should be clear until 2021. Hurray!

They were dead ones in my driveway and live ones on my garage today. I live near Springwood Drive in Woodbridge.

Well, to update, I think I'm getting lucky with this one. My immediate area has been quiet, a few shells here and there.

My neighborhood has a dock/resevoir entrance behind it...I took my dogs down there for a walk yesterday evening. The long driveway down to the resevoir has tree overhang on both sides, and it was like entering a different world. The hum was loud, dead cicadas everywhere. The contrast was amazing as this was only about 1/4 mile from my front door.

Glad to not have seen a single one here in Sterling so far (and I live in a pretty wooded community, not a new development). My daycare provider said she saw tons at her parents' home in Manassas. Sounds like we decided to move out of Lake Ridge at the right time!

One or two at most in Kingstowne area. Of course much of the area has been built up since 1997, but there are tons of woods surrounding it. Do they fly to nearby areas? I'm not seeing any on Fort Bevloir (North) either.
