FYI, I have researched prices at four townhome developments in Manassas and would like to report the starting price in each. The infamous Georgetown South; 109,000, Point of Woods; 160,000, Georgian Hamlet; 169,700, and Bristoe Station; 169,900. There is a Wal-Mart nearby in case you need ammo. Happy house hunting everyone! My college real estate professor's favorite line: "GO IN LOW"! Couldn't possibly be more relevant than it is today. You must extrapolate the price off the declining curve or risk making a 50 or 100K usd mistake.

This was in the newspaper yesterday. This is actually in the county but close to the city.---

Prince William County police arrested two people and seized more than $35,000 worth of marijuana during a recent drug bust at a Manassas-area apartment.

On Nov. 15, officers with the county police department's gang unit searched 10908 Coverstone Drive, Apt. C, and seized approximately 22 pounds of marijuana, said Officer Erika Hernandez.

Police obtained arrest warrants for James Thomas Henderson Jr., 34, and Chante Lavern Sheppard, 30, both who live at the Coverstone Drive apartment, on the charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Hernandez said.

The two turned themselves in to police Tuesday, Hernandez said. Each is being held without bond pending a Jan. 22 court date.

Additionally, each was charged with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Hernandez said, because there was at least one juvenile at the apartment. The juvenile's age was not available.

The search was done following a surveillance operation in areas with higher rates of crime, Hernandez said.

Possession with intent to distribute more than five pounds of marijuana is a felony punishable by five to 30 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine, Hernandez said.

More Manassas nonsense-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The events leading up to the death of a young Mexican immigrant started when Robert Briscoe asked him for a dollar, according to court testimony Friday.

Briscoe, 18, is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, robbery, attempted robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the shooting death of Victor Moreno Orosco, 23.

At a preliminary hearing in Prince William General District Court Friday, a judge ruled that there is sufficient evidence to send those charges to the grand jury in December.

Police said Orosco and another man, Jose Elias Paz, were walking on Weems Road in Manassas around 1 a.m. on Sept. 15 when Briscoe approached them.

Orosco and Paz were walking home from the 7-Eleven on Liberia Avenue, where they had purchased cigarettes and beer, Paz testified Friday.

Paz said that Briscoe approached them and asked for a cigarette; Orosco gave him one, Paz said.

Then he asked for money.

At the preliminary hearing, Manassas Police Detective David Abbott testified that when he questioned Briscoe, Briscoe said he first asked the men for one dollar.

When the men said they had no money, Briscoe didn't believe them and got angry, Abbott said.

"He said he patted them down and then began shooting wildly, those were his words," Abbott testified Friday.

When he patted the men down, he found that Orosco had a wallet, Paz said. Paz had no money, he said.

"He started to search our clothes and our pockets," Paz testified through an interpreter Friday. "After he found the money he took out a weapon and pointed it at me."

Paz said that Briscoe first shot at him, and missed.

"I swerved and the shot went by me," Paz said in Spanish.

Then he shot at Orosco, and hit him twice, Paz said.

Paz said that Briscoe left and then returned to take Orosco's wallet.

Police later found Orosco's wallet and identification card at the house where Briscoe had been living, Abbott said.

Briscoe said that after shooting Orosco, he whispered an apology in his ear, Abbott testified.

"He whispered in his ear 'I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shoot you. I'm hungry,' " Abbott said.

Briscoe's charges will be considered by the grand jury on Dec. 4.

The grand jury will decide whether there is enough evidence to send the case to trial.

The Weems/Liberia area has seen the biggest decline in niceness.

Default property

Occoquan Forest is a lovely neighborhood, between Lake View and Manassas. It has a Manassas address but is in the county. It is a peninsula, surrounded by the Occoquan River and the houses were built around the trees, so it has wonderful tall trees every where, thus the forest. The homes are the 70's contemporary style to fit in with the forest. There are walking trails, a dock for fishing and places to store your canoe, and a great playground and soccer area.
Prices range from the low $400- to $1 mil on the waterfront. Lots of activities. Book and garden clubs, Octoberfest, cookouts, Easter egg hunt and Santa Clause makes his rounds in a Fire truck to tell the kids HI.
Check it out!

Yup. Actually even a little closer to the Gov't Center, but still called Manassas.

Yes, I know the neighborhood. Very nice. Also, one January I drove down a road down there, a steep hill, kind of a remote street, and thought I would never make it out (very icy). That's my primary memory of the area, not that it was a typical street for the area, but still!
