I need to be at the National Harbor by 8 am tomorrow morning. I know how long it will take me to get to the Beltway at 66, but how long will it take me to get around the Beltway to MD? Is there traffic going that way on a Friday morning?

I hope someone can help you. I know it doesn't take me long to get there from Woodbridge, but I am never really going in the morning on a weekday like that.

Yeah, I typically go there on weekends. Not right during rush hour.

It's usually not bad at all at around 8:30am from Springfield to Maryland. Don't know about earlier though.

I imagine the commute is worse than ever now with the Tanger outlet stores

I drive 495 from Dulles Toll Road to 95S in the morning and it is usually going at normal speed. I attended a conference at National Harbor a couple years ago and never had any issues with Beltway traffic going that direction in the morning. I remember specifically thinking that I was glad to not be going in the other direction, though!

However...clearly I missed something if there are Tanger outlets in that area now - I was unaware of that. (Though I doubt they open by 8am.) I don't know the exact time since I don't go to National Harbor often, but I don't think you'd have to add too much more time than you normally would. Of course, there's always the possibility for unpredictable traffic incidents, but my experience on normal days is that it's a relatively easy drive.

Don't forget to allow a little bit of extra time to park and walk to your specific destination.

If you are going to the convention center you won't be that close to the outlets. Just make sure you take the 295 exit. If you miss it then you will end up by the outlets on the next exit. Typically the traffic is heavy going into MD during evening rush hour and light during the morning.

Which exit is the one for Tanger? I don't really go to NH, but I exit right around there when I am going to Maryland. Exit 3 I think.

How expensive is a nite at the hotel? Maybe there's a groupon for it so you don't have to worry about hitting an accident on the bridge/beltway
