I will need to drive from Centreville to National Harbor on Friday, and I will need to arrive by 6pm.

Any suggestions on routes?

I'm leaning toward Braddock to 7100 to Old Keene Mill to the Beltway, but I'm also toying with Little River Turnpike.

I am scared of hitting a huge amount of traffic because if we're late, the ship leaves without us...

Suggestions and advice are much appreciated.

You should be fine heading east on Old Keene Mill Road, but the east bound traffic heading back into Maryland may be thick. Braddock to 7100 should be manageable.

Have a great time!

I'd be more concerned with the WW bridge traffic than Braddock or 7100...give yourself a lot of wiggle room.

Get there early. Plenty of places to sit and have a drink or food.

I work in the Dulles area and travel the beltway over the Wilson Bridge everyday to my home near the Harbor. It takes me generally an hour door to door. A great day is 50 minutes and a bad day is an hour and fifteen. The worst traffic is around the Tysons Corner exits to Rt 50 exits on the beltway...from there to the bridge and over the bridge is smooth sailing everyday usually during rush hour 4 to 7pm.

be sure to schedule some time for parking (probably a garage) also over there and getting from your parking area to where you need to be

I live in Centreville and travel to Maryland often by going 7100 (Fairfax County Parkway) all the way thru the Kingstowne area to get to the 95/495 ramp (towards Baltimore) which takes me over the WW bridge. I can always depend on traffic moving pretty good this route. You need to make sure you are in the correct lanes that go over the bridge so you can take the exit for the National Harbor. Just stay in the far right lanes - there will be exits for Rt 1 S etc. then the lanes continue over the bridge and you will see the exit for National Harbor. This route is a great alternate way, especially on a Friday, to avoid heavier traffic by going say Rt 66 to 95/495N over the WW bridge into Maryland. However, I would give myself adequate time to get over the bridge since traffic is heavy on Fridays no matter which roads you take!
