The only time I ever see the cops with scanners is at Chick Fil A in Woodbridge.

Looking at Google maps traffic, it's pretty clear this was one of the stupidest completed projects of that crocked McDonald administration (we have the 460 bypass and bi county pkwy fortunately cancelled).

NJ just expanded the TP from 6-12 lanes from exit 6-9 and the bad ups are gone.

Why the hell didn't they make 3+2 lanes in each direction for a major east coast thruway?
What a waste.

So for the first time ever, I saw a police office posted on the shoulder with a radar gun out on the HOT lanes. I was on the main line and couldn't see if he had a transponder reader as well.

This past week there was HEAVY enforcement on the I-395 north when it becomes HOV only. Many solo drivers were getting pulled over.

Friday afternoon, headed south, the toll from Woodbridge to 610 was $14.50 for one way. Usually on Fridays it's $10. That means that the total for this Friday on southbound I95, from the 495 beltway to 610 was close to $25 for one way toll. Ouch.

I saw that $14.50 also and I thought "OUCH." I was in the regular lanes all the way on Friday and it was fine (left DC at 2:30).

I still have to say that these HOT lanes have definitely impacted my commute (and not in a good way). It has been an extra 10 minutes for me in the morning and extra 15 in the afternoon.

Don't tell that to Transburban: Transurban study finds Express Lanes cut commute times - WTOP. The cracked up some "survey" that magically concludes the HOT lanes are a godsend.

I have noticed that $10 between Rte 619 and rte 610 is pretty common because they are trying to get people out of the HOT lanes because of the huge backup where they end.

They are definitely a godsend for people who work normal hours and have the money to pay to use them. They are sweet for that. In fact, last week, I had to stay late for 2 days and I used them. Paid roughly $10 each afternoon. Got me home quickly but definitely would not be sustainable for me.

Yeah, I can see that. But they are claiming that the regular lanes are lighter because of people getting in the HOT lanes which I definitely don't see.

Maybe the times of commuters shifted, but I can definitely say that the regular lanes have seemed smoother around 9 am since the HOT lanes opened. Evenings still suck though.

Today was $16.60 to travel from hwy 234 to 610. With $8 to get from beltway to hwy 234, that's $25 each way today. Is anyone know someone who's paying $50 a day to travel in the HOT lanes?
