My name is Donna. I'm a recent transplant in Chincoteague, Virginia. I have my BS.Ed in secondary education, with English and History being my major and minor, respectively. In Massachusetts, I worked full time for 13 years at a privately owned corporation providing day habitation services to developmentally disabled (MR) adults and young adults who recently aged out of the school system. At the same time, I worked part-time (24 hours per week) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at an 8 bed state-operated group home serving the same population.

I had a total right knee replacement in December of 2013. After 13 years of working in the Human Services field, I simply cannot imagine doing anything else....I call my time with these individuals a "labor of love" and "gasoline for the soul." All of that being said, can anyone provide some tips as to how I may pursue this same career in your beautiful, warm state?

P.S. I have dearly missed the South. Herein resides the kindest people!!

You have posted this in the "Northern Virginia" specific forum. Since you're living in the Chincoteague area, you'll get more responses in the "Hampton Roads area". It includes the Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Williamsburg and Eastern Shore areas. Those residents know your area far more than those in Northern Virginia (suburban DC).

Best of luck.
