I'm gauging a prospective position in McLean, and I will be moving my family (wife & 3 kids) to the area.
I need to find a place that

1) Has great pre-k through elementary schools
2) Has 3 bedroom family friendly neighborhood, budget is $2,500

Any thoughts and recommendations for a realtor? We're looking to rent initially.

We're originally from MD, so we get the culture, but we lived closer to Baltimore w/o kids and so need a different perspective now.

Thanks!

Well, McLean is the obvious choice. But you may not be able to afford it. To get constructive answers, please provide your budget.

Thanks spencgr, I updated my budget in the main post. Trying to to keep it at $2,500. I know options may be tight, but I just need to get a sense.

Thanks!

I'm assuming you are ok with a townhouse or condo?

If you look hard, you can find a 3-bedroom older home in Town of Vienna for that price. There are some available now (I just looked). Super family friendly location, great schools, and a hop, skip, and a jump to McLean (well with a bit of traffic added in, of course). Yes, the house will be a 1950's rambler but it will have a nice big yard. Look at zip 22180 on Realtor.com and you should see a few. Small-town feel, lots of kids, fun activities throughout the year, schools are well-rated, and convenient to most parts of the area.

I would recommend Vienna, which is very close to mclean and you can find townhomes or maybe if you're lucky even single family homes for rent in that price range. The schools in Vienna are some of the best in the county and country. Like Oakton and madison high school. Very family oriented town cause mostly families and married couples live in Vienna.

Here are homes I've found in your budget:
Longford Ct, Vienna, VA 22181 is For Rent - Zillow
413 Center St N, Vienna, VA 22180 is For Rent - Zillow
9555 Pine Cluster Cir, Vienna, VA 22181 is For Rent - Zillow
2319 Stryker Ave Vienna Va # 22181, Vienna, VA 22181 is For Rent - Zillow

I know some are a little over your budget but they are districted to very good schools and all the homes are walking distance from the metro. I would also look in falls church aswell. Good luck!

Rule #1 - try to never put a bridge between your home and work. That is a brutal commute back home...brutal!
