I will be relocating to Northern Virginia on January. My office will be in McLean and i am looking for one bedroom Apt/Condo Homes within $1100 at Reston.

Please suggest
Whether Condo Homes are good enough and are they safe?I am worried that they are any scams associated with Condo Homes.
Also please suggest any another place best to commute to McLean with affordable rental and less traffic

I'm sorry to tell you but you won't find a one bedroom apt or condo for $1100 in Reston. A quick check on Homes for Sale and Rent in DC, Maryland, Virginia | MRIShomes.com indicates that you really need to be above $1300.

In your price range you are going to have to deal with traffic to work in McLean.

Thank you! Could you please let me know affordable places around McLean? I am ready to spend 30 min for commute. I am not sure how much it will translate to distance in that area.

Also I saw some posts in Craiglist with rentals below $1100 around Reston, VA. Amazingly Priced Two Bedroom, Two Bath Ready For Showing And Immediate Move In
Top Floor! Commuter'S Dream! 2 Mins Walk To Bus, Subway!

I really doubt whether this is a scam, as it is too good to be true based on the previous post.

I am looking for more information, as I am very new to East Coast.

The second one is likely a scam. No one calls it the subway here.

I checked out both of the links - though the text indicates Reston, the associated maps indicate that the apartments are in Manassas. Manassas is a LONG way from Reston (and a terrible commute).

The big problem is that there are very few (and maybe no) area within a 30 minute commute of McLean that have apartments in your price range. You may want to look in Herndon - you should be able to get to McLean in 30 minutes if you use the toll road (just be sure to include the tolls in your budget). If you don't use the toll road Herndon is easily 45 minutes from McLean.

condos have managing agents you can always confirm the person renting owns.

Look at "Dolley Madison Apartments at Tysons" and "The Commons of McLean." I've never lived in either property, but I'm throwing these names out there for your consideration. Their pricing might be more in line with your budget. All the best to you!

I lived in Commons of McLean for a year; I had no issues living there.

Thanks everyone for the valuable information! From multiple forums I came to know that I 395, I 95, I 495 and I 66 will be very crowded during peak hours. Will that be the case with other roads like VA695, 123, 193, US 50, US 29 as well?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

There really is no un-travelled road during rush hour. You might get some normal speeds on toll roads.
