Hi,
I have another quick question. What is the commute time from Fairfax Station to Tysons Corner (near the mall)? It would be during normal rush hour times, but I'm particularly concerned about the evening commute from Tysons to Fairfax Station. Thank you!

It will be long some days, but I think you'll be okay. What route will you take? 123? 66? Guinea? Use Waze every single day.

I used to work in Tyson's, and my husband used to live in Fairfax - when my husband (then boyfriend) lived in the neighborhood behind the Fairfax Country Club (right near the edge of Fairfax Station), I would take 66 to 123 after work to see him....it took a while. Probably about an hour on some evenings. Sometimes I would just hop on 123 and take that.

Both 66 and 123 just get horribly jammed, and that was one factor that led to our decision to buy a house inside the Beltway when we did purchase.

However, from wherever I've been situated in the area, Tyson's has always been my preferred "larger" area to commute to. It will be worlds better than a commute to Arlington or DC from Fairfax Station, IMO.

I have no experience with the morning commute, as I would always leave early in the morning, and stop by my place, get ready, and commute from there, so I have little idea if it would be better.

Personally, I would take 495 to Braddock Road to Fairfax Station (30-45 minutes usually).

I hate driving through Fairfax on 123 and hate 66 just as much. Some days it might be better to take 123 to 66. Definitely wouldn't take 123 all the way there though.

Fairfax Station is a general location, but let's say 123 & Fairfax Co Pkwy. On a given Tuesday you'd be lucky to make it to 123 & Rt 50 in a half hour. Then another 30 to 40-mins to International Drive. Snow or a Full Moon and everything changes.
I live at Wakefield Chapel & 236. If I take the Beltway and spend the $3-$4 bucks for the fast lanes, I can do it in 20-mins.
Prosperity & Gallows, about 50-mins.
