I currently live in Port Potomac and I am pretty happy with it. There are a few amenities that have not been built yet, but all the biggies are done such as the gym, the indoor/outdoor pools, the tennis courts, basketball courts, tot lots, etc. The development itself is not completed.

To commute to Fairfax, I would actually take 123 all the way. It is about a 30 min drive with no traffic, but during rush hour you will face traffic for about 5 miles as you try to reach 123 either through 95 or route 1.

She's not really advertising, just promoting her community where she lives. Now if she said "I live in the area and sell homes for a living. Let me know if any homes interest you and I can show them to you", that would be advertising.

Heather72, what time of day do you take 66 heading to Vienna metro?

For traffic, commuting from the Woodbridge area to Fairfax will be a breeze. My daughter did this for 3 years when she attend Paul VI High School in Fairfax (we live in Woodbridge). School started at 7:45 and it took her, roughly, 35 minutes each morning. Port Potomac a little bit more south than Woodbridge "proper" and you had to deal with some Rt. 1 stuff which can be rough going in the morning, but they did just improve the Neabsco Road area of Rt. 1 and it is realy great right now.

Taking the commute of it and dealing just with the two different areas: if I had kids, I would definitely choose Gainesville. The overall area, neighborhoods, and schools are, IMO, a bit better than the Woodbridge area.

You just have to figure what is most important to you. While I think Gainesville is nicer than Woodbridge, I would never move there because my commute would probably get worse than it already is.

You aren't going to make it in 30 minutes during rush hour. Non-rush hour times, yes it definitely is possible to get to the Vienna Metro from Gainesville in 30 minutes. During the weekday, I'd say the earliest you might be able to do that in the morning is leaving Gainesville at 9 AM possibly, but it might be later. Otherwise, you definitely need to leave prior to 6 AM probably, to make the Vienna Metro in 30 minutes from here.

On the weekend of course, easy to get there in 30 minutes from here.
