My husband thinks your suggestion could be his favourite! Unfortunately not the type of friendly I'm looking for.

I responded because I remember all your posts before you moved and was wondering how you're making out around here.

I was afraid you might have been horrified by the place and turned around and went back to OZ.....glad you didn't and hope everything is going great for you and the family!
Hi Car54,

Thanks for your message. We're all settling in well despite the cold weather. So far so good!

Aren't most Chinese restaurants open? Maybe Indian, too.

Not sure whether Cafe Renaissance is open on Christmas or not. We have gone there for special occasions a number of times. Have seen kids there, but it is not designed as a place for them to be rambunctious.

The Most Romantic Dinner in Fairfax, Exquisite French and Italian Faire.

Really nice place to have a quiet excellent meal. Just off Maple Avenue in Vienna (Glyndon Street). Behind the Safeway.

I tried that and it gives activity info not restaurants. when I went to restaurants, it listed by ethnicity or best of.

I'm looking for a Chinese buffet for Christmas Day near Fairfax.

Cafe Renaissance is definitely worth a trip. The food is maybe a little short of "exquisite" but is still very good, and the service and atmosphere are first rate. Pyromaniacs can always order a Cafe Renaisance to go with dessert. Best to choose a designated-driver first, though. We've taken our kids there since they were old enough to sit still and behave. This is not a stuffy place, but a sense of decorum will still be expected by other guests. I have been there on Christmas Eve many times, but don't know about Christmas Day.

One place that definitely is open on Christmas Day (all 24 hours of it) is the Amphora, just east of 123 and Nutley. They have a wide-ranging menu, some of which is so-so and some of which is quite good. Not up-upscale but nice enough on the dining room side (as opposed to the diner side), and definitely kid friendly. Took our kids there since before they had teeth.

Other places of at least non-Christmas Day interest in Vienna are Le Canard and Bonaroti's. Both are quite nice. Some would include Bistro 123 and La Provence. Anita's is a tradition for (New Mexico) Mexican.

Thanks heaps for that, even if they aren't open for Xmas it's handy to know for other occasions.
