Thanks very much Saganista, your responses are always very informative! I'll definately check out the places you've mentioned. We have also had a recomendation for the Marriott Westfields for their Christmas buffet. Has anyone been there before? Not sure if we are even going to be able to still get a booking anywhere for Xmas Day, it may already be too late.

This is not a stuffy place, but a sense of decorum will still be expected by other guests. I have been there on Christmas Eve many times, but don't know about Christmas Day.

One place that definitely is open on Christmas Day (all 24 hours of it) is the Amphora, just east of 123 and Nutley. They have a wide-ranging menu, some of which is so-so and some of which is quite good. Not up-upscale but nice enough on the dining room side (as opposed to the diner side), and definitely kid friendly. Took our kids there since before they had teeth.

Other places of at least non-Christmas Day interest in Vienna are Le Canard and Bonaroti's. Both are quite nice. Some would include Bistro 123 and La Provence. Anita's is a tradition for (New Mexico) Mexican.

We have been going to the Westfields Marriott the past three years for our company party and it has always been delicious. Very pretty atmosphere. If they are open on Christmas, I think it would be a great choice. Good luck!

M&S is open Christmas, as well as Legal Seafood. If you go to Opentable.com and search for availability on Christmas, it will bring up quite a few restaurants in the region.

You can't go wrong with Westfields Marriott's brunch, though. One of the best, though pricey.

Thanks reiliz, have now made a reservation at Marriot Westfield. So glad we could still get a table after all the positive feedback on the place.

My Jewish friends eat at Chinese restaurants on Christmas Day. Then they go to the movies. They say it's gthe most boring day of the year because everything is closed.

McCormack & Schmicks in McLean Va is a good restaurant open for Christmas; Bistro 123 is no longer in operation but it was one of my favorites.

I checked opentable.com after it was mentioned here and found a surprising number of places open on Christmas Day.
