Last I heard, the state took back all of the funding for this project. They were going to rebuild that whole exit... who knows when they'll come up with the money now at this rate...

22407 is Spotsylvania County---west of Fred'bg, and south of Stafford Cty.
There's lots of shopping (none of it "upscale" at this point in time--but we're getting there!!!)
Family friendly----isn't almost everyplace? Good schools in Stafford and Fred'bg---Spotsy's trying!
It's a long commute to DC---traffic is horrendous on I-95.

I've lived in Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania my whole life. 4 months ago I started commuting to work in Old Towne Alexandria. At first I was taking the train, but it was always late, broken down, cold ac blowing in the winter, and no seats available. I got tired of that and started driving. I go to work from 7-4 and in the morning it takes about 2 hours, and in the evening it takes 2-3 hours. On holidays it takes about 4 hours. If you can stand the commute it's a GREAT place to live. Lake Anna isn't far and it's a great place to go boating and fishing. Tons of museums and civil war history. Beautiful parks and civil war walking trails. I graduated in 2002 from Spotsylvania high school, good school. Fredericksburg schools are better in my opinion. We're about to relocate to NOVA somewhere to get closer to my job because I have a 1 1/2 year old at home that I'm missing out on so much time with, but I will greatly miss my hometown.

Oh, and depending on where you live I would suggest Culpeper Hospital if you ever need to take a trip to the E.R. Mary Washington's E.R. is SO BUSY EVERY TIME I'VE BEEN. Over years it's not gotten any better. I lived in Fredericksburg but was in the middle of Mary Washington Hospital and Culpeper and would def. take a drive to Culpeper Hospital over Mary Wash. anyday. I had my baby there and the staff was just wonderful!

The actual City of Fredericksburg has around 23k, but Spotsylvania and Stafford counties have somewhere around 130k people each. A lot of Spotsy and Stafford even have 'Fredericksburg' mailing addresses.

Generally, when people say 'Fredericksburg', they're talking about both the City, and the two counties... which would total around 285,000 people.
