Also, remember that CD posters would hardly represent a truly random sample of the NoVA population - even the voting one, I'd think. (At the very least, we're all online.)

Also bear in mind that I didn't make this poll public to preserve privacy and to ensure the greatest amount of response possible. Unfortunately, though, we don't know how many people from NoVA voted in this poll vs. how many "lurkers" or people from other parts of the state or even country voted. I created this poll so that people who didn't want their political persuasions revealed could still participate, but how can we be fully sure that half the McDonnell supporters who voted aren't really from RoVA?

What percentage of Virginia voters are NOT online? I personally know one.

Why would people from ROVA be here?

Sorry Scranny, you're dreaming if you don't think that at least 90% of those who answered your poll aren't from NOVA.

A lot of the very poor, people in public housing, etc. - you'd be surprised. (These people are also a lot less likely to vote, however.)

Another issue is that CD posters are hardly representative of some general population of internet users.

I "lurk" in other forums and vote in their polls all the time. I know when I've done public polls on other sub-forums I've seen non-resident members voting as well in the results. As of right now we have 74 votes, and I can safely say we never have 74 members yakking here on this sub-forum.

Survey USA poll now has McDonnell up by 19.

And if you look at the large number of views each topic gets I think it's safe to say we have a lot of people who consistently read this forum but don't post.

I voted!

Everyone I talk to seems to think McDonnell's a shoe in. Even I voted for him, and I'm usually a staunch democrat. I just couldn't get behind voting for Creigh Deeds. Hopefully next election we'll have a better choice in candidates.
