Hi all -

My finance and I and our 22 month old son want to move to NWI over the next month or so. We found a really nice house at 173rd place and Calumet ave....about a half block east of Calumet. We have heard that closer to munster you are the safer it is. I think this is basically on the border of Munster and Hammond. Does anyone have any insight on the safety of the area of where we are looking?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Safe area, but plan ahead when it comes to considering school districts. Are you going to want to pack up and move in four years when your kid starts school? My wife and I made that mistake in Merrillville and then felt the need to move to Munster so the kids could go to good schools.

Thanks for the replies everyone...we ended up with a townhome in Munster just south of 80/94. Really happy with where we ended up!
