Flights to Hawaii tend to drop in price if under the 14 day advance purchase window because no one goes with almost no notice. This is opposite the typical mainland flight pricing.

Just checked Hawaiian Airlines a few moments ago -- LAX to HNL for $170 each way for selected dates during the last weeks of February and March.

We recently bought tickets to HNL from PDX - $249 one way. We got the seats that are the next step up from regular coach but not first class... forget what it was called. We also paid the extra I think it was $15 so we could get "lei'd" when we arrive at the airport. Our 15 year old son was pretty shocked when he heard his mom say that outloud the first time.

I assumed the lei greeting would have been included as part of the experience, I was surprised you had to pay extra and request it. Not a big deal, though, just kind of made me sad for a minute.

I also didn't shop around, though, to be honest. I'm sure there were better deals out there. I just went to the website directly, punched in our dates and stuff, and clicked purchase.

Looking at tickets today for friends coming over. Is their a way for me to purchase tickets on my miles account for them--and get the miles for myself? Anyone do that. This would be with Hawaiian Air. I know I can share my miles but if I purchase for them can it count for me?
