I like Mackys Shrimp truck in Haleiwa. It's located in the parking lot right next to the 7-11. I get the lemon pepper shrimp with hot sauce on the side. Onolicious to the tenth power!

On 10/14/12 I said the food trucks were slowly dying away - and folks didn't like that response either.

Saw this tonight:

Fewer lunch wagons in Kakaako hot spot - Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL

There are essentially none left on Kapiolani anymore (there used to be at least 6)- north shore shrimp trucks for the weekend seem to be all that is left thriving.

"Komine believes fewer lunch wagons in Kakaako reflects change within the industry. Some operators quit.
"There's a romantic idea that this is a cute little business to get into. But the harsh realities are that it's really hot in your truck and it's hard physical labor," she said."

Maybe because some people actually read articles like the one you linked to, and notice lines like this:
Quote:
Askew organizes Eat the Street and runs the StreetGrindz.com web site. She said overall the number of food trucks is still high, but they're spread out or congregating in areas outside Kakaako.
[...]
Construction in Kakaako fueled the increase in food trucks that hit a high last year.

"Once that dried up everybody left," Paladino said.

They'll come back with condo construction. More than a dozen projects are on the table. Komine said her customers follow her whereabouts.

Gosh Marx - you've got to be blind to not notice the dwindling food trucks on Oahu, take a drive sometime around the island - and in the english language, a phrase "is still high" implies - not as high as before. But hey, only trying to help.
