I was sitting, sipping some DP, on the lanai of my condo on Judd Street, 15th floor, for the millennium, end of the world, 1999 New Years Eve event. I have NEVER seen such fireworks in my life, and I don't mean the stuff from Longs, most of the pyrotechnic stuff going up from all over Nuuanu and downtown, Chinatown etc. was professional grade. I can't imagine what it must have been like down on the ground level, especially for someone with any type of breathing problem. Before midnight we could hardly make out the traffic lights on Nuuanu because of all the acrid smoke. People over here go friggin lolo hupo pupule nutz over fireworks, and it spans all cultural divides.
Fortunately, the graveyards were all right across the street
I believed you down played how pupule lolo people get lol.
What does one do about noise that some contractors are making next door, they have been working on the unit next to us for a couple of weeks now, they start from about 8 am and go on (sawing, hammering and pounding walls until 5 to 7 pm. they even worked on thanksgiving. I have a 12 year old with autism and the noise upsets her, what can I do? frustrated in makakilo~~

Are you in a condo? Talk to your HOA. Apartment? Talk to your landlord.
You could always try talking or leaving a note for your neighbor also.
