I was actually talking about the IMP & the PK hotel, etc. They're also planned luxury highrise on Kings Alley property. And the Ritz! So lots of mainland construction workers looking for housing.
Is that tied in with the new, on the Moana beach building? I thought they bought off all the unions & politicians. They'll have to do some work to keep up with the new IMP or convert it to student housing :-).

They claim they are re-evaluating the design. Others think it might be about future ownership issues.
Mahalo whtviper1, it will be interesting to see the changes over the next few years. I was just driving down Kapiolani and was shocked how far along the Nordstrom parking lot condos were. I thought that would be delayed for some time.
I was also down at the Elks club and they're looking to build a three story parking structure similar to the one on their leased land to the OCC. They need to cut down a couple of trees. I was with someone from the planning dept. that said fat chance. Course Hula's and the Ritz can comment how quick a tree can take a turn for the worse.

It is supposed to be done at the end of the year and they sold out in 29 hours, all 206 units. Average price a bit under $2 million. I guess not everyone is broke in Hawaii.
It was such a hit, they are doing another tower at Ala Moana by Nieman Marcus.
I'd hate to be an owner that thought my view would always bo protected by the mall. I was up on Punchbowl counting all the new buildings that block the ocean view.

I used to work at the building next door at Ala Moana Pacific Center, I had a 14th floor ocean view, it was ok, but not great (mostly mall/Macy's - some ocean). I believe the new tower is going to be lower than the Nordstrom tower, thus protecting the views of the high floors.
