My husband and I are relocating to Oahu in 2 to3 months for my job at Tripler. Are we likely to find a rental in that vicinity? I'd really prefer to live in a more rural setting than in the city. I don't need big and fancy; but I do hope to find a place with 2 bedrooms. Furnished would be plus. I really just want a clean place with a bit of outdoor space - either a lanai or a bit of a back yard to enjoy my morning coffee. I don't mind a commute.

Does anybody know of a rental agent who might have properties like I 'm looking for? I know it's too early to rent place, but I'm trying to get a feel for what is available. I've been on Craigslist, but most of the places listed there seem to be in or near Waikiki.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Call a realtor. With a job at Tripler you are considered a desirable tenant. Good luck in your relocation.!

Realtors don't deal with renters on Oahu like they do in Boston or New York City for the simple reason they don't get paid.

Also add Aiea and Pearl City Area. There are a number of people working at Trippler that live in my townhouse Association, in Aiea. Those people had to good through Real estate companies. I found my place through the news paper.
Commute time to Trippler is about 20 Min depending on traffic and time you go in.

I'd totally skip apartmentlist, realtor.com, and zillow. Way to many scams.

On Craigslist you can report fraudulent posts and is much more reliable with the most postings.

Although I'm curious Scott, I socialize with a lot of realtors who work all the major places and none consider renters (no money) What real estate company deals with renters?

I bet miss dee that because Tripler is a military hospital that there would be some kind of military civilian employee human resource department or laison that could aid or give you assistance to help find housing. Have you checked

Salt Lake, Moanalua Valley, Halawa, and Aiea would be good places to look.
