While the poorer Oahu residents of the past are either living in multi-generational homes or moving to other islands, mainland.
Life's like that. Maybe some day you will be a success and be able to pick where you live. No doubt you won't give a wit about what effect it will have on the lives of the locals.

Heres the tell all, The average price for homes purchased by foreign residents was the highest at $785,604, followed by homes purchased by U.S. mainland buyers at $630,390, while homes purchased by Hawaii residents averaged at $478,189. I suspect the percentage of outside buyers is alot higher because the term "Hawaii resident". We all know its not to hard to become a resident of Hawaii. This my point outside money is raising the median average wealth on the islands. I think people should also talk to the 70% of the total native hawaiian population living now in other states in our country and ask them why they don't live on Hawaii anymore or the 90,000 Former Hawaii Residents in Navada alone.
Make a full report when you are finished with this.

Another words what you claim to be Oahu middle class bettering itself is really out of state movers who became hawaii residents and former rich oahu residents. Follow me here ok, if 27% of homes bought in Hawaii recently are by mainland or foriegn buyers in a few years imagine what that percentage is like for a few decades? Further if 73% currently are hawaii residents and the average sales is $478,189? Which neighborhoods have these price ranges or less? Since half of hawaii residents are buying for this amount or less? mostly leeward side not windward right? lower class to middle class neighborhoods right?
It sounds to me that you are disappointed that your racial purity isn't being preserved. It's called "DIVERSITY". You should embrace it, not see it as the reason the sky is going to fall on you. Your obsession with race is revolting. Is there something magical about being "native hawaiian"? Is it a class above the others? IMHO, not so much. Find some other topic to obsess about.

just got around to this:

David Y. Ige | DCCA NEWS RELEASE: DBEDT releases analysis on Hawaii home buyers

You forgot something important and decided to leave this out - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

About 47 percent of the neighbor island homes were sold to out-of-state residents, while only 15 percent of Oahu homes were sold to out-of-state residents.

Seriously, 15%???? that's it??? Quite frankly I'm a little shocked it is so low given how some folks on here think all these homes are being bought by the mean mainlander and should get taxed like crazy. 15%!!

Reminder: Oahu thread

Don't forget those out of state buyers could be locals returning after a couple decades.... or the kids.

And it is only 15% - that to me is stunning for all the rhetoric around here that out of state buyers are driving up home prices on Oahu. That was perfect data to show that out of state buyers aren't buying all that much at all.

Nope i love diversity. Lets reread to get in context "This my point outside money is raising the median average wealth on the islands. I think people should also talk to the 70% of the total native hawaiian population living now in other states in our country and ask them why they don't live on Hawaii anymore or the 90,000 Former Hawaii Residents in Navada alone."

Lets reread again please ". I suspect the percentage of outside buyers is alot higher because the term "Hawaii resident". We all know its not to hard to become a resident of Hawaii."

Then " Heres the tell all, The average price for homes purchased by foreign residents was the highest at $785,604, followed by homes purchased by U.S. mainland buyers at $630,390, while homes purchased by Hawaii residents averaged at $478,189"

Thats what is raising the wealth level on Hawaii.

Try again. Likely those 70% of Native Hawaiians weren't born in Hawaii.

Let's see the source on the Hawaii residents now living in Nevada (not Navada) - let's pretend it is 90,000 - want them back, put a casino in Hawaii. Try going to the Cal downtown sometime - the entire casino is mostly Hawaii residents.
