The closest you can probably hope for is Kapolei and that would be lucky.

kapolei is still a decent drive fighting traffic, but wouldn't even be 1/4 as bad as coming all the way into town.

when she said she will live in waianae and work on a base, I was hoping she'd say it was schofield or something. She'd have to fight the traffic leading up to the H1 merge, but then she could swing up on the H2 and not deal with traffic for the rest of her commute. The distance is about the same, but 1/3 of the commute will be traffic free versus virtually all of it being in traffic going to pearl harbor.

6 am start time, I would shoot for leaving the house at 4 maybe, and see how it is. The main issue with such a long commute is that if there's light traffic, you may get to where you're going in an hour. But if the traffic is bad, it could take 3x that easily. Makes it hard to plan for. Plan on leaving to get to work early, then sleeping in the car once you're there.

That would be a horrific commute - minimum 1+ hours each direction with an emphasis on minimum. You'd have to leave by 4:30am each morning to not be late and sit in afternoon traffic which starts building up by 2:30pm

Cool. Thanks for clarifying. Schofield traffic will be better than pearl harbor likely, as I mentioned earlier. Once she transfers to schofield, you could possibly think about renting in mililani or waipio or wahiawa if you're concerned about the commute at that point in time.

Sorry the focus of the thread is mainly about traffic, but that simply speaks to the fact that people think traffic will be the main issue. I honestly dont think you'll have problems elsewhere. The west side has very nice beaches, main issues on that front might be the homeless campers and break-ins and such.
