What's the Harrisburg/York/Lancaster area like? Aside from the recent Amish school shooting, that is?

Isnt that a shame? I cant believe that happened. People are really messed up out there. Lancaster is a nice place. Amish country is very nice out there. York, PA is in very bad shape though. There is this city of 50,000 that has a really high crime rate sorrounded around Amish country.

This is my observation, correct me if I'm wrong:

Harrisburg-declined a lot 20-50 years ago, has made something of an economic comeback. Impressive downtown skyline for a city it's size. Many more people in the suburbs than central city.

Lancaster-decent economy, clean town, the best place of the three towns to live in by far.

York-as you described. Small but high crime, many cool looking old rowhomes but most are VERY rundown. The Yorktowne Hotel downtown is very cool though.

^I agree 110% about Harrisburg and its amazing skyline. Very nice and its economy is starting to grow. Lancaster is a nice little city. York does have some very nice row houses, but it needs to work on its crime. It also has some rundown areas.

Well I found out that Steubenville and wintersville is runned down by high crime of drugs.

On our way out to steubenville a person returned our call to a place at 575 a month.

It is in weirton Wv and we are taking it instead.

Well good luck. I really am not a big fan of Weirton. I was just reading an article on the area. How they are still focused on the Steel Industry and are loosing jobs very fast. What happened to Cadiz? There are so many nice towns in NE Ohio right on the PA border. Anyway im very glad that you found a place and i wish you the best of luck in the move.

Well dad does not want to go further than Jefferson county. When we spoke with the owner of the home, he said that Weirton, Steubenville and most of Jefferson county is getting so bad with drugs. I do not want to live in the drug comunity.

The only reason we are taking weirton is that it is a nice 3 bedroom home for 575 just right where we want it. The landlord is extreamly nice. But this town we are going to is not in Weirton it is more upper weirton near the shopping center. If you would take 22 from pgh, take the weirton exit, follow main street, it is like 5 lights up then make a left it is all nice newer homes up there. Very quiet streets too. I will take that.

But my husband and I will move to Sugarcreek when time comes to when his dad passes which will be a while.
