I kind of view the influx of people going to Alaska like the people who move to CA or Dayton, OH. Some people can make it anywhere...and be happy, regardless of weather, amenities, or whatever.

We have transplants in OK complaining about the lack of "quality grocery stores"! Which may be of vital importance to them, but has never registered as a priority for me.

Personally, I would not want to live in a 6 month winter area, unless I didn't have to go to work. Then, it would be great.

Yes the long winters are what drive alot of people out of Alaska, plus there can be a sense of isolation, especially if you have family in the lower 48. So now you know why I say ughhhhhhhhhhh with winter coming.

Its in the lower 60s here, and a week full of sunshine. Any snow yet, Pat?

I noticed it was snowing in the Plains states.

No snow yet. There was snow on the mountain tops which has basically now melted since our temps have been in the 50's. Right now it's 55 out, very cloudy though....wishing for some sun.

Well, I can tell you right now here in southeastern Ohio the temperature is 61° and it looks like it's going to get a little cool tonight but I will say the fall colors here are spectacular.
