I just wanted to say to all of those in the OKC area, God bless you guys. Despite what you guys have gone through the past two decades alone with severe weather, I have seen a resiliency that few others have in many areas across this great country.

Being from Carthage, MO, (located just east of Joplin) and having seen the aftermath first hand of the Joplin Tornado, I realize that you guys have seen this type of destruction time and time again and I just pray that you guys don't have to go through it ever again.

What happened in Joplin 2 years ago was bad, but nothing compared to areas like Moore and OKC getting hit by multiple violent EF-4/EF-5 tornadoes in just the past 20 years. Again, god bless you guys and I pray for the speedy recovery of the hardest hit areas this past month and that you guys don't have to deal with anymore violent tornadoes or any other extreme types of weather anytime soon.

I didn't live here during the May 3, 1999 tornado so I didn't see the aftermath. I have been in more than one tornado (small in relation), and I have seen the aftermath of large tornadoes, like the one in Tuscaloosa Al and the big Wichita Falls, TX tornado back in the '70's. However until this one in Moore, I had never seen the destruction so shortly afterwards. We drove through on our way to Texas this weekend and what you could see from I35 was horrible. On our way back yesterday we actually got off the interstate and drove through some of the hardest hit neighborhoods. It was absolutely devastating. I was absolutely the most horrific thing I have ever seen. Total destruction as far as you could see. It is just so vast, if you haven't seen it, I don't think you can actually grasp it. We drove through neighborhoods watching volunteers helping people dig through the rubble that was at one time their home. Then we would go for a few blocks and see no one, then all of the sudden on the horizon you would see a lone person digging through piles of rubble looking for anything they could even recognize. At one point we pulled over on a parking lot, where it was obvious a business had once stood. The building had been cleared away already. We got out and took a few pictures. Suddenly we realized we were standing in the spot where the 7-11 in which 4 died once stood. I just lost it. I simply could not hold back the tears.
