Did anyone take the "Life Expectancy" test?

I says "Sorry Guys" Being a Male is hazardous to your health.

Everyday when I turn on the computer I get a blue screen, so if I don't come on someday you will know that it has crashed for good and that I am still waiting for new computer.

I have a lot of old tapes I would like to download on my computer. Do you know of a good program to accomplish this?

Do computers have this ability already or do I need to buy/download a program. Or do I just buy a microphone?

I have some cool recordings which I would like to keep before the tape cassettes die.

There are programs that allow you to convert audio to digital and put them on your computer, but I'm not too knowledgeable about that stuff. Your best bet would be to go to the Technology forum and post a question there, then bring back your newfound knowledge to the Okie Tech thread!

You want to get Audacity: Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

You'll also need a cable to go from your tape player to a 1/8' stereo plug to connect to the input of your sound card.

Audacity will also allow you to clean up the sound a bit if the recording was noisy.

Gotta love open source!

BTW Synopsis, you can get Audacity in the repository.

I went to the repository, typed in audacity in the search box. It popped right up and I downloaded and installed the program in about 10 seconds. Gotta love this Linux!
