I had friends that went to KC and took the west side down and came back up on HWY 59 in Iowa and said that was much better.

One thing to keep in mind is the Hwy 75 to Hwy 36 to I-29 at St. Joseph is going to get almost all of the heavy truck traffic. I drove 18 (and more) wheelers for twenty years and now that I am in four or two wheelers I try to avoid the big rigs on two lane roads IF I can. Four wheelers and eighteen wheelers on crowded roads are a disaster waiting to happen IMHO. Go a few miles out of your way to avoid the situation if you can.

Wondering how this route from Overland Park to Omaha compares to Craig route:

I29north to Rockport, east on 136 to north 59 through tarkio, 59 North to highway 2 west to 275 north onto 34 west by Glenwood and back onto 29 north...

I recently took that route except I just took 275 all the way. I didn't go all the way to 59.

"Jun 19, 2011 – U.S. 275 near Hamburg, IA is not underwater, but is closed to all but local traffic"

I didn't think 275 was open all the way? Thanks

I went down to a Royals game on the 15th and although there were signs that said "Closed to Through Traffic" it was open all the way to Hwy 136 which you take about a mile west to I 29 at Rockport.

You do go right through Hamburg, but I didn't see any water in that part of the town.

YES for sure. Ignore the road signs closed by Glenwood and get on 275 towards Sidney, Ia and then on down thru Hamburg where it will also say closed.

Good Luck
