This would also work out well when visiting your brother, you could hop on the Amtrak Surfliner and take the train down to San Diego...who says you need a car in so cal?
Metrolink doesn't run late at night. That could be a problem for some people.

Socalpal is right on the money- and what's wrong with our transit system..?!? Clean, big underground stations- many times bigger and cleaner than anything I've seen in other cities. And if Metrolink stops running, you can always catch an Amtrak into Union Station, etc. Not all of us are enamored with cars.

You will gain more respect by not nicknaming CA cali. Cali is in Colombia.

You budget will go further if you rent a room. I would look at Naples in Long Beach.

A commute from Buena Park to LA would be insane!!

I would recommend an urban type place such as Fullerton which is a city with a good urban vibe and beat. It's a gathering place from locals from places like Anaheim and Buena Park. The city of Orange would be a similar place but with a much older crowd and further away. I would really recommend Fullerton for you wich locally it's known as the equivalent of what Pasadena is to LA.

As far as coastal and what not, a ride from Buena Park to any coastal city would be a minimum 45 minute drive. I wouldn't recommend it. That's an 1 1/2 a day wasted burning expensive car gas.

I would just recommend to venture out on your days off from work and get to know the OC beach life, it's great.

Not true. People of all ages live in Huntington Beach. It's not a college town.

You could look at downtown Santa Ana near the Metrolink.. that's probably the most urban area out here. Even if you choose to drive, it'll likely be against traffic.

Long Beach might be better but I don't think you'll like the commute.
