I live in the community of the "Real Houswives of Orange County" be aware of the pitfalls of an affluant community in which housewives (I am one myself) become real estate agents to find something to do with their time and are not true professionals. I live in what would be called a luxury home ( empty nested I call it a mosilium? I have to clean and paint). I listed with an agent with a good reputation and expected it to be a slow process considering the market conditions. Yikes! What happened to our family is kind of unbelievable. Our agent showed the property to a perspective buyer 5 times(same buyer). He made an offer which we countered and accepted. It turned out that he was a con man, they never prequalified him, they had no current address or employment history and allowed him to do an indepth home inspection revealing all weaknesses in security of the home. We had to notify credit reporting agencies for identity theft, refit the security system, caution our children about coming and going form the home and unpack a home the movers were coming to in 4 days. Best part agent never told us anything until 2 hours before the contingency was supposed to be lifted.

Did you report the agent?

How did he steal your identity? Did the agent give him your social security number? Was there no earnest money in a deposit? What happened to the agent?
