Hi, i've not found a good authentic/upscale Italian place in the OC so far. I lived in LA and used to some more independent/sophisticated italian places nearby such as Ca Brea, etc. So far the places i've gone have not been impressive and being a decent chef myself i can do better at home. I'm looking for something beyond like spaghetti and lazagna, something more upscale (northern etc.)
Also if you know a good french place shoot that at me also.

White House in Anaheim is supposed to be pretty good, though I've never been; only driven by it countless times. The owner has a year-round motel-kid/family feeding charity.

I know of many great/decent hole in the wall, family owned, Italian places in North/Central O.C., such as Cortina's Italian Market in Anaheim (can't go wrong with their sandwiches or pizza), but upscale? Nah, not really.

After a little research, I came across Francoli Gourmet Restaurant, which specializes in Northern Italian Cuisine and is located in Orange. It has excellent reviews on
Yelp , and I think it might be more of what you are looking for judging by the many images that are posted.
