Which is an extremely small percentage based on an average. Certainly nothing to base as a norm.

Maybe suckers exist in Seattle, but not SoCal where prices are not overvalued. Value is based on what people will pay, not what people want to pay. I would not want to live in Seattle in any event. Better places exist.

No one is, paying that much as it is voluntary. No one is required to live in a popular and expensive area. Want to pay less, move to a lower cost of living area. I did.

I love SoCal, born and raised there and could afford to live there, but decided not to waste the money. I bought a new home in FL on the Atlantic coast at about 1/3 of the cost for the same new home in CA and the other costs are far less. Oh, the humidity is not really an issue as it is better for my health and skin and once on the beach it is a non issue. And air quality, which is awful in CA, here in FL is way below the limit of the good rating. Great air. I can visit SoCal for years on the savings and still be ahead on savings. In fact I will be there next month for a couple of weeks.

Simple fix. Change the law.

Prices are overvalued in just about all big cities to one degree or another.

There are a lot of suckers here in Seattle (most are millennials). And the political atmosphere here (socialist/fascist types) seem to think free **** is the fix. Not to mention the enormous homeless dead beat problem, free pot, safe heroin injection sites, soup kitchens galore, child molester mayor (now ex mayor), $30 HOV lanes, Socialist politicians etc...they have over in Seattle. I certain I missed something. LOL!

Thank god I don't live in Seattle/King county limits itself. I avoid both like the plague. LOL!

Yea, but you're still stuck in Florida, you know what I mean?

I guess if you don't care about mountains, then Florida will do. As a mountain man, I could never live in Florida which is flat as a pancake. In fact, I believe it's the flattest state in the union.

The FL coastline doesn't really appeal to me for that reason. It's all flat & littered with those tacky high-rises up & down the coast. There's nothing like the dramatic scenery of Big Sur or Sunset Cliffs, or Leo Carrillo beach, where the mountains meet the sea.

Air quality is also significantly better in the mountains as well. I love going to Palomar Mountain & breathing the sweet mountain air with all those Pine, Cedar & Fir Trees.

Vive le difference!

Enjoy the mountains. I used to go to Big Bear all the time. But growing up at Newport beach I am a beach person and in FL the water is warm and enjoyable and in CA ... well it isn't. Oh I also lived at the foot of the Smokies which are some of the most beautiful mountains, but like LA the air is bad, which is why I moved. Glad you are enjoying what you like.

High wage earners are common in many places in OC, and so it goes.

Not a simple fix at all. Try and get something done yourself and you will see.

Not if there are buyers. Prices are what the market is willing to pay, not what someone thinks they should be.

Can't disagree.

A beautiful area for sure, but not for me.

Thanks man. I'm also happy for you that you found your nirvana in Florida.

Regarding the warm water situation, meh. I grew up going to both the beaches of California with the colder water & with the Baja beaches with warm water.

Not a fan of the warm water. It doesn't cool me off on a warm day. It's like getting in a warm pool, no thanks.

I feel like this issue is overblown about the cold water. it's not really all that cold, especially comparing to other places like Canada and Alaska. I'm surprised about you growing in Newport Beach and not like the colder water. My wife's cousin who grow up going to the CA beaches can get in the water during winter without a wet suit.

I could stand it as a kid but now that I am old, no way. In FL the water on the East Coast is "warm" but it is still "cool" when you enter it compared to the air temp. So FL not so much but I am in Central coastal FL. Better than Baja for sure. Plus the air quality here is wayyyyy better than SoCal even on the coast.

Look at Newport for example.

Air Quality Index (AQI) level in 2013 was 129. This is significantly worse than average.

Now where I am in FL it is way below that and even below the upper limit for good air which is 50.

Newport's average is over 2 and 1/2 times the upper limit and almost 4 times worse than where I am.

While the wages are lower in some fields the rent and prices of SFH is so much lower than in SoCal, except Miami and a few other areas of So Fl that for many living here is not hard at all. Millennial's can do far better here and along the space coast good jobs are growing. Jacksonville is also doing well for work.

I love CA as a a State but not what it has become, and will be there for 2 weeks in July (I own 3 business in CA), and will enjoy it, ... and then go home.

I read the air report, but it sure *seems* like good air down here in South OC. It could be perhaps they calculate the occasional SAnta Ana winds into the mix?
