Thank you hamishmacbrown,
I need to rent a car when I'm there because I will doing some house searching and running some errands. But that is wonderful that they have a shuttle service and I just might use it for the shopping at Fashion Island and Balboa Island if parking is not the best. The hotel room view sounds wonderful, I will try and get one of those rooms.
Thanks

Hi Roma,

I trust you find the home you are looking for...

Very weird, as my wife & I did the same as you - 45 & 35 retirees with no chidren, looking for a life near the beach - to be honest we would have loved a beach property, but could not find anything in our price range - we eventually settled on Laguna Niguel at Laguna Woods off Crown Valley Parkway (2-miles from the water's edge at Monarch Beach) - no change out of 7-figures but well worth it as we have a lovely architect designed home (Chris Abel, famous for Laguna Beach) - we finally get to move in May 2nd

Hi hamishmacbrown,

That is weird....because I'm 41 and my husband is 42 and we are also retired and have no children. We retired 2.5 years ago.
That is great you found a home and you are moving in soon. I wish we could say that. Well, Hopefully we can soon. We still have a home in Texas we need to sell.
Your home sounds just divine. I would love to have a famous architect designed home. Maybe we will be as lucky.
I'm open to looking in the whole area along the coast in the OC. Our Realtor will be showing me an array of homes in Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Monarch Beach and I asked her to add Newport and Huntington Beach. We are looking for a "ocean view" home.
I hope we can get in (in our price range). We are low 7 figures and I do understand that it cost a lot of money to live in such a wonderful area and I agree with you that it is well worth it.
I wish you the best on May 2nd! Cheers!

I've stayed at both the Laguna Cliffs Marriott in Dana Point, as well as the Hyatt in Newport. and the Marriott is much nicer. And the 45 minute drive is a myth, it's more like 20-25. But if you'll be looking in or near Newport then it's all about location!!!! When we were here looking for a house, we had to force ourselves not to do tourist stuff and focus on finding a house, knowing that after the move we could go to the beach every day ... which we do :-)

Thanks for that nevercoldcall,

Well darn, Laguna Cliffs was even cheaper then the Hyatt but oh well next time I will have to stay there.
I will probably find it hard to stay on track focusing on houses but I am not in a rush to buy (have to sell my house first) so I made some other appointments as well. I do want to do touristy stuff and I will try to fit everything in (I just have a couple of days though). I can't wait to come to California, I miss it so much. See ya guys soon!
