My husband and I are possibly moving to SoCal from Nashville, TN. His office will be on Batavia St. in Orange. We're not sure where to live. We want a nice 2 bedroom apartment in a nice, safe area. Can someone tell me the drive times from some of Orange's surrounding cities during rush hour? Commute time is HUGE for us. Don't want to spend more than 30 minutes getting to work and the same for the commute home (work starts at 8am and ends at 5pm). Thanks!

You are wise for crafting your post the way you did.

Surely people will chime in with specifics. In the mean time here are some good tools to use:

Do you think you can put enough money together to rent a house? If so, you can find some pretty decent housing east of Glassell between LaVeta and Katella. The immediate area around the Orange Mall also used to be nice. Don't know what it's like now. But definitely check into it.

At this point, I wouldn't recommend any of the apartment buildings in Orange because they are either full of illegals or they are college student party pads with tight parking availability or a mixture of both. The same is true of Placentia. Look into Yorba Linda or Anaheim Hills if you just gotta rent an apartment. They are close enough that you can also take city streets to Batavia St. in Orange (I used to live in Orange, so I know that area pretty well) if the freeways are jammed up. Also, Yorba Linda and the Anaheim Hills have much better schools than Orange does.

This seems like a post I saw before. Is this a new one?

Old town wrange is a great area. You can walk everywhere. It is a nice mix of people. It is a quaint place and reasonably safe. Not too expensive either. There are a lot of rentals. In part becuase Chapman University is located at the edge of old town and in part becuase the City allowed anyone to conver their garage to apartments for a while and many (most?) people did.
