Personally I think you are way off base on Portland but you are entitled to think that 1M people in the metro area all have pink hair, tats and are hippies. When I lived in PDX I wasn't anywhere close to a strip club. It isn't like they are on every street corner.

Salem is a more conservative city and we have a lot of churches here so that probably rules us out.

Eugene is the only city left.

As a note, I haven't actually been to Portland 'cept once at age 12 so if my assumptions (based on what's I've heard and seen on "Portlandia") are way off take no offense.

Portlandia is comic entertainment, not reality. Turn off the TV and visit to know what Portland is.

Really? You are going to chose your place to live based upon a TV show that is fiction?

I think, based upon your criteria, that you will be happier in the midwest or deep south.
