Totally normal and standard cd forum question. Completely relevant to ANY "moving to oregon midsize or small town" thread.

Oh, and op, i find it odd that you mention degree program last on your list of priorities. You will only be in a college town for a few years, your priority should be the quality of your program.

Euegene: better in your area of interest.

Corvallis: nicer place to live once you are done with school.

I doubt the poster will be returning to this thread, having been told that the thread is a "stinker" and snarked at about becoming homeless.

Beyond the occasional 20-something with a fantasy of living in a "walkable neighborhood close to forested wilderness areas and herbal water bars that's cheap with lots of jobs and blah blah," I've noticed that most people with relocation questions here pretty much have the job thing figured out. What the OP wants to do is completely realistic for Eugene and probably for Corvallis as well.

Thanks to everyone who responded to this thread! It gives me more to think about.

I'm starting to re-think moving just yet. It would be cheaper to get my degree in Kansas and then move once I have a degree AND a job lined up. I'm so eager to move again...I've done it a lot...but honestly the costs of moving will set my education back even farther.

I just miss the PNW so much! Again, thanks for all your opinions and advice.

As an alternative option for your degree, check out OSU's ECampus (Online & Distance Degrees | Oregon State Ecampus | OSU Degrees Online). They don't charge out-of-state tuition, and the ECampus program is highly ranked. This will help keep the college costs a bit lower, especially while you sort other things out, as you don't have to be committed to one area.

Not true if pursuing certain degrees, such as engineering.

It's all relative. Nationally, neither is rated all that well.
