I was thinking the same thing about the income requirement. Probably their best bet is to sublease something. And there's plenty of those on CL.

Yeap, CL and a HUGE down payment/deposit are their only hope.

I wouldn't rent to someone without a source of income from either a job or social security/pension, etc.

Yes, I had read this also - that you need a job to rent. My daughter says when she asked about it they said if they have savings of 3 months rent - it is ok. We shall see. I think real life is going to smack them in the face!

No offense to your daughter but they're adults...if she is going to blindly follow this guy (husband or not)...then they'll just have to learn a lesson the hard way...

I agree, when kids are that age...they know it all. No matter how hard you try to help them or direct them, they are going to do what they want. Sometimes, they have to learn the hard way.

To the OP, it's nice of you to try to help. I would've done the same. You can lead a horse to the water but you can't make them drink it as hard as it sounds.

Of course I can say this because my kid is only 9 so I have a ways to go before worrying about him doing something like this. OP - you sound like you have good intentions...good luck to them...

You might have them focus their search on the East side of town, closer to UCF. it will be convenient, close to schools, and often more affordable and safer than other parts. There are many apartments but don't forget to look at homes too. might check out Craigslist too

Like any city we have apartment guides too.

They are also Muslim, so would like to live somewhat near a mosque. I have searched this forum and found the areas to avoid - Kirkman Rd, Millennia area, Pine Hills, Parramore, Metrowest. Is the whole west area or Orlando to be pretty much avoided in general? Where should they start looking for an apartment?

I just came across this thread and I had to chime in.

I'm sorry, but no one in their right mind would make this type of decision (move). Unless they are very well off and "flies by the seat of their pants".

They need to do some research BEFORE they take this leap in order to determine if this is a good idea or not, and at the very least secure a job/home.

The weather alone is not going to help pay their rent/mortgage, feed them and put a roof over their heads (among other elements).

Have them read this thread and the many others about how challenging it is to survive in Florida, etc..........I've been wanting to move to Florida "forever", but there is no way I would ever follow anyone without having a plan in place BEFORE doing so.

Best to them!

I know young people are brave but if they dont have major funds available this is the most foolish thing I have heard in long time. But if they must perhaps you can co sign for them if your credit is OK and you should be able to do this online and over the phone.
