Hmmm, sounds more like 20 years ago. I don't know of any smells though perhaps since you were working on boats..?? There are a number of antique shops but even more art galleries, restaurants, a popular farmers market, redesigned streetscapes (brick streets, victorian lampposts, greenery) and a "riverwalk-style park" along Lake Monroe and not a gun/pawn shop or used car lot in sight.
