Peach, it's going to take time for Florida drivers to get used to the trains being there. Give it time. We aren't used to having trains in this area.

I'm in Asheville NC this week. Last night I got here, and there was traffic backed up in both lanes from construction ahead. All of a sudden, a car comes flying by everyone I could see in my rear view. It was someone who did nt have the patience to wait like everyone else. FL PLATE. And that is why many here do not like us, and I dont blame them. Just fit in, and be normal. Dont make a complete ass of yourself, we already do it nationally.

A lot of people live in areas where rail lines are only lightly used, and by freight trains, which tend to be slower and heavier. They're just not conditioned to the fact that passenger trains accelerate more quickly, usually move much faster, and still can't stop quickly when some impatient, self-absorbed twit blocks the crossing.

Over the long run, better crossing protection, usually in the form of automatic crossing gates, will reduce the carnage. But there will still be those so sheltered and isolated that they just don't, can't, or won't get it.

Right. It's not fair to call these drivers stupid.
