I'm disappointed in the MPG numbers for a car this small. I'd rather drive a Hyundai Elantra which has plenty of interior and trunk room while also providing 40 mpg highway and almost 30mpg city.
MPG numbers for the 500 and cars like the Smart car are not all that impressive, but I think they are going for more than just mileage with these. Large cities with hardly any parking makes these small cars desirable.
Personally I'd much rather drive my old Jetta TDI , fits 4 (sort of cramped) and will knock down, 40-45 mpg city , 48-50 mpg highway.
Pretty much the same when they failed i the US market before. They fit right in with the ugly box look sold now days by mnay makers. The Gremlin look is back it seems.
With Toyota , Honda , Nissan and now Hyundai making fuel efficient and reliable small cars its going to be very tough for Fiat to break through.
The 500 is not earth shattering by any means, just another small car, it doesn't really stand out at all. Its not my cup of tea at all!
I plan to sell a billion nothings for a billion dollars each. Don't mean my nothings will sell.
They are not selling for a billion dollars. And they are not selling nothing. They are selling a car that starts out at 15,500.
I think they will sell all 50,000 units per year. The same amount that mini sells:

Hey now, the Gremlin looked alot better than most of todays cars!!!
Interesting how tastes are different on the other side of the pond.
