Not sure which way Elon's endorsements or censures count for these days--it seems like there are about as many people and as intensely from either side. To be honest, I think he just takes up too much collective attention and mindspace. I'd rather be thinking about trains or BBQ or mycology or heat pumps.
To your point, I'd probably be a lot happier looking for Christmas music on YouTube than commenting on Elon Musk - so that's what I'm going to do.

Here, Marques Brownlee compares the Lucid Air GTP to the Tesla Model S, and spoiler alert, he finds the Lucid Air better, in almost every way. Now, the Lucid Air is more expensive, but if you've got the cash...

Yea, seems pretty impressed!

Lucid did just launch two lower trims recently, the Lucid Air Touring starting at $109K and the Lucid Air Pure with AWD at $94K so that lines up more closely with the base Tesla Model S. Still not cheap, but it's not a cheap segment anyhow.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...-specs-prices/

Separately, they've also started delivering the higher trims to Europe. US manufactured cars being sold in Europe hasn't been all that common in recent years, so this is pretty exciting.

  • From $138,000 Grand Touring
  • From $107,400 Touring
  • From $87,400 Pure
Now, the cheapest Model S starts at a whopping $104,990.

You really should only compare vehicles that are within 5% or 10% of each other in price.

Lucid is a bizarro-world company. Cuts 18 percent of employees citing low demand with an 18 month wait-list. Blames ongoing losses on low utilization of their manufacturing capacity they will use less of by cutting 18 percent of their workforce. Cool car, not sure how long the company will be around for though.

Tesla is the VCR/DVD player of electric cars (everybody seems to have one)

Lucid is the betamax or laser disc (an oddity that only a few bought into).

The resale on the Lucids is downright depressing! They are literally trading at 75K under sticker whenever they are being resold.

https://www.reuters.com/business/aut...e%20new%20data.

Resale value. Most of the people with orders were just flippers so the 18 month waitlist is all gone and unsold inventory is piling up for the last 6 months despite production cuts.

I recently sat in a Lucid Air Pure but haven't had a chance to drive it yet. But wow, it was quite nice inside, much nicer inside than my Model S...and nicer than the BMW IX and Porsche Taycan as well. I think Lucid might be on to something here, if only they can raise awareness.

I saw a Lucid a few months back locally. Did a double take as I wasn’t sure until I got closer. It is a beauty.
