Mornin' all!

A little something for our lexiphiles.

Today's Question(s):
Today's questions were inspired by hubby, who, when I told him today is World Porridge Day, said, "sounds grueling."

First, I'll throw out a few puns...
A man stole a calendar and got twelve months.
A bicycle can't stand alone; it's two-tired.
When she saw her first gray hairs, she thought she'd dye.
Now I'll ask, what are a few of your favorite puns?

Just for Fun:
What word do you like to say simply because it sounds silly?

Bonus Question:
Have you ever:
defenestrated anything/anybody?
been capernoited?
used a biffy?

Today in History:
2011 For appearing in a film critical of the Iran's harsh policies on the arts, actress Marzieh Vafamehr is sentenced to 90 lashes of the cane and a year in jail
1995 Most Dutch telephone numbers increase to 10 digits
1987 Bruce Springsteen releases his 9th album "Tunnel of Love"
1978 Congress approves Susan B. Anthony Dollar
1963 Treaty banning atmospheric nuclear tests signed by U.S., UK, U.S.S.R.
1935 "Porgy and Bess," by George Gershwin, New York premiere
1899 IR Johnson patents bicycle frame
1780 Great Hurricane of 1780 kills 20,000 to 30,000 in Caribbean

Today’s Word: mense
Pronunciation: (mens)
Meaning:noun: Propriety, decorum. verb tr.: To adorn, grace.
Etymology: From Middle English menske (honor), from Old Norse mennska (humanity). Earliest documented use: before 1525.

Today is:
National Angel Food cake day
National School Celebration
Tuxedo Birthday 1886
Emergency Nurses Day
International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction
International Newspaper Carrier Day
International Top Spinning Day
Naval Academy Day
S.A.V.E. Day
Stop Bullying Day
World Mental Health Day
World Porridge Day

Good morning!!!

I can be pretty silly at times but not one silly word comes to mind. I do call my dog...Pug a lug.

I have never defenestrated anybody...but I have thrown some things out the window. I once helped a friend take out sheetrock in her bedroom. It was easier to throw it out the window and clean it up later

I have been carpenoited a time or two when I was young and silly.

I have used a biffy before and I hate the smelly things

Have a great day!!!

Now I'll ask, what are a few of your favorite puns? Six of one 1/2 dozen of the other.

Just for Fun:
What word do you like to say simply because it sounds silly? I better keep quiet on this one.

Bonus Question:
Have you ever:
defenestrated anything/anybody? Yes, I have thrown my gum out of my car window.
been capernoited? I've been tipsy a time or two.
used a biffy?

Today's Question(s):
Today's questions were inspired by hubby, who, when I told him today is World Porridge Day, said, "sounds grueling." Ohhhhhhhhhhh - that was painful! *lol* (But very funny!) (Or should I say, very punny? )

First, I'll throw out a few puns...
A man stole a calendar and got twelve months.
A bicycle can't stand alone; it's two-tired.
When she saw her first gray hairs, she thought she'd dye.
Now I'll ask, what are a few of your favorite puns? Those are hilarious, Pats! I love puns! Here's one for you: A red ship and a blue ship collided at sea. The passengers were marooned.

Just for Fun:
What word do you like to say simply because it sounds silly? Discombobulated.

Bonus Question:
Have you ever:
defenestrated anything/anybody? No, but I almost defenestrated my old PC before I finally purchased my new laptop a few months ago.
been capernoited? A few times when I was in my 20s.
used a biffy? Yep. Several times a day and, unfortunately, at night too!

Today’s Word: mense
Pronunciation: (mens)
Meaning:noun: Propriety, decorum. verb tr.: To adorn, grace.
Izzy can mense herself today with birthday attire.

Today is:
National Angel Food cake day No, thanks. I like a heavier, moister cake.
National School Celebration Yay for the schools and the teachers and the students.
Tuxedo Birthday 1886 Monkey suits!
Emergency Nurses Day God bless the nurses!
International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction How can WE reduce natural disasters? Don't they occur naturally?
International Newspaper Carrier Day Now I feel guilty. Just last week I canceled my subscription to the daily newspaper.
International Top Spinning Day I haven't done that for a while. Last spun a top a few years ago when I was playing with children in the nursery at my church.
Naval Academy Day Yay for the USN!
S.A.V.E. Day Save what?
Stop Bullying Day Yes. Stop it right now!
World Mental Health Day *tee hee* I like being slightly crazy.
World Porridge Day Peas porridge hot. Peas porridge cold. Peas porridge in the pot, nine days old.

Quote of the Day:
The dog is the god of frolic. ~ Henry Ward Beecher ~ Good quote!

First, I'll throw out a few puns...

A man stole a calendar and got twelve months.

A bicycle can't stand alone; it's two-tired.

When she saw her first gray hairs, she thought she'd dye.

Now I'll ask, what are a few of your favorite puns?

From a document I have entitled "Chinese Proverbs:"
- Man who run in front of car gets tired.
- Man who run behind car gets exhausted.
- Man who stands on top of toilet is high on pot.

Just for Fun:

What word do you like to say simply because it sounds silly?

Banality

Bonus Question:

Have you ever:

defenestrated anything/anybody? Maybe a wad of paper. Sometimes a malfunctioning computer if I get frustrated enough.

been capernoited? No.

used a biffy? Sure. Every day.

Happy Hump Day!
