I usually like to put one up almost as soon as the Thanksgiving dishes are cleared away! I'm exaggerating a little, but not much! My husband kind of prefers to "enjoy the Thanksgiving week-end" before we head into Christmas! It's my understanding that years ago people didn't put up the tree until Christmas Eve. And of course, with artificial trees, you obviously might put them up sooner because they are not going to dry out before Christmas.
So, CD ers...when do you typically put up a tree if you do?
(I'm only putting up my pre-lit table top tree this year, but I will have lots of other Christmas garland and decorations too! I will probably do it very soon after Thanksgiving...)
We always try and put ours up right after Thanksgiving. My oldest son is excited this year to put up a layout of trains under the tree, so I'm sure things will be started by this weekend. One benefit of an artificial tree.
About 2 weeks before. Usually I set it up..then go to work for 2 weeks. Come home and revive it in time to take it down a week after new years. I have not been home for Christmas in like 12 years.
We will get ours out in the next couple days, probably not ON Thanksgiving day but right afterward. I usually do it in two days, first I put up the tree and put on the lights, then I leave it for a day and then put on strings of pearls and the ornaments.
Then of course there are the rest of the little trees I have for around the house, I have alot of them and we enjoy putting them all out.
We put ours up the Saturday about 3 weeks before Chriistmas. We go into the woods around where we live and cut it. We have notice it takes about 3 weeks and they begin to really dry out. My husbands family used to keep theres up like weeks after Xmas. That would make me nuts! I like my down within a few days after Christmas.
It depends on weather we use our artificial(sp?) tree or get a fresh one. The artificial goes up maybe a few days before Thanksgiving, and comes down after New Years Eve. If it is real, then 2 weeks before Christmas and hopefully it will last till New Years Eve.
Usually we put our tree up on Thanksgiving night but this year we had to wait til the day after because we had to buy a new tree.
On a side note, the last fake tree we bought was 13 years ago and it was a nice fat tree. When we were out looking last week all we could find under 200.00 was tall skinny trees. Does no one like Fat trees anymore? Is this the new tree fashion trend? Just wondering if anyone else noticed this?

I love the big fat ones, they look so much nicer. To me, that is what a christmas tree should be. I dont care for the skinny ones either.
