Greetings, kids! I hope you all had a great weekend. Scroll on down for Today's Tip.

5 WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS

We all know that stress can take a terrible toll on our bodies and minds. Here are some tips from the American Psychological Association on how to manage the stressors in your life. (For more details, please use the link at the end and read the entire article.)
  1. Take a break from the stressor. Whether it's an overwhelming work project, a crying baby or massive bills, give yourself permission to step away from the problem. Do something else, even for 20 minutes, and you'll feel better.
  2. Exercise. More and more research proves that exercise benefits both your mind and your body. A 20-minute walk, swim or other physical activity can make you feel much better, and the effect can last for several hours.
  3. Smile and laugh. We hold a lot of stress in our facial muscles. Laughing and smiling can actually help relieve tension.
  4. Get social support. Share your concerns with a trusted friend via phone call or email. Validation from another person may help alleviate your stress.
  5. Meditate. Meditation and prayer help our minds and bodies to relax and focus. It can help us see situations from new perspectives and alleviate our stress. Even brief meditation - just a few minutes - can do wonders to make us feel better.
Here's the APA article: Five tips to help manage stress

Peace!

Good tips. My favorite stress reducer is to remind myself that "This, too, shall pass."

Good tips Pam. And when you take that 20 minute break eat some chocolate, it'll make you feel even better...

Great tips, PJ!

I also highly recommend retirement... the freedom to plan your day as you want is an extraordinarily sweet de-stressor!

Pets are great de-stressors. People are great distressors.

I like that-did you make that up?

Sort of related to Pam's 1st suggestion: Just imagine yourself in a beautiful setting. A memory or an imagination-either will do, just someplace you enjoy. Your mind will tell your body to relax.

That's what I have in my office, and I swear - it works (no one is stressing me at home )

It also works for people who come in to whine...

Pammy good morning to you, this is such a great tip and I advice all 'Meditating' is such a good thing. I do it 2 times a day and it helps to relieve of course stress, anxiety, puts you in a better perspective of daily situations .It was suggested to me when I started Martial Arts, part of my training. And I still meditate, just anywhere comfortable and I transport myself to another time and place full of harmony Thank you Pam for this great tip
