I'm so old I can remember $5 a week feeding 3 including red meat.

I remember when we could buy a whole cow for $5.00 and feed the family for 6 months.

I remember living off grid cause there was no grid. Drinking water was a wooden bucket with a gourd dipper on the back porch on the way to the outhouse.

Yep.....outhouse at the rear of the lot.

Remember my dad building a septic tank behind the house (learned yrs later what it was)

He installed a inside toilet and I wondered where the water went when flushed.......this was in the mid 1930's as I was just 4 or 5 yrs of age then.

We also had the Ice,Milk,Bread,Fruit/Veg all brought by Horse drawn wagons.

I remember going to the ice house buying blocks of ice for the ice box. No refrigerator.

I remember my dad delivering those ice blocks with a horse drawn wagon and those big ice tongs and chaps he wore.
